PRIVACY POLICY
On January 1, 2004, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) will govern all
Ontario
organizations that collect personal information in the course of commercial activity.
Tannis Food Distributors collects personal information from potential and current clients for purposes of granting
credit and collecting amounts due. Your consent for collecting and sharing this information was obtained when you
filled out the credit application.
Tannis has elaborated a privacy policy that is fully compliant with the Act (PIPEDA). Clients who wish to review the
personal information that the Company has gathered, may make a written request to the Chief Privacy Officer (CPO) who
will respond within thirty (30) days of receipt of the request.
Access to the information may be granted or refused. If refused, you will be provided with the reason(s) for
refusal.
If a customer or potential customer files a complaint, the CPO will carry out an investigation in a timely fashion.
If the complaint is well founded, the CPO will take the necessary steps to amend any information, policies,
procedures or personal information handling practices. Whether the complaint is well founded or not, there will be a
written response issued.
If there is a refusal of access to information, or if a complainant is dissatisfied with the written response, he or
she may file a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
